Lohri Festival in India

It is the beginning of the gather season. It is that time when individuals offer petitions and on account of God for the products previously reaping them. The celebration of Lohri celebrates only this. Celebrated with monstrous excitement in Punjab, this celebration is a day of thanksgiving for ranchers. Lohri is accepted to the longest night of the year as per the Lunar date-book.

It is an event to commend the reap of rabi crops, those which are sown in winter. So the feature of this celebration is winter nourishments like sarson (mustard leaves), sesame, entire wheat and spinach. Til (sesame) and rorhi (jaggery) are eaten as customary nourishments. The words til and rorhi together make 'tilorhi', and in the long run got rechristened to Lohri, it is accepted.

Campfire is a vital piece of this celebration. It symbolizes Agni, the God of Fire. Individuals assemble around the blaze, sing tunes and toss in sustenances like gajak, chikki, puffed rice, popcorn, rewri, sesame seeds, jaggery, peanuts and sugarcane to pay reverence to roots. As a feature of the merriments, supper is served after the campfire custom. The supper commonly incorporates 'Sarson ka Saag and Makki ki Roti', a Punjabi winter treat adored wherever on the planet.

According to old stories, the flares of the fire are known to convey messages to the sun which is the reason the day after Lohri is warm and radiant bringing a conclusion to "bleak" winter days.
